The early years of Marco Polo’s career at the court of Kublai Khan, Khagan of the Mongol Empire and founder of the Yuan dynasty (1271–1368), are the inspiration for the American drama series Marco Polo, which is now streaming on Hulu. On the 12th of December, 2014, Netflix released the first episode of the programme. In addition to Lorenzo Richelmy, Benedict Wong portrays Kublai Khan in the John Fusco-created series. The Weinstein Company was in charge of production. Netflix renewed Marco Polo for a second season on January 7, 2015, which debuted on July 1, 2016.
After two seasons, Netflix confirmed on December 12, 2016, that Marco Polo has been cancelled. Both Netflix and The Weinstein Company agreed to discontinue the show after it lost $200 million in two seasons, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s sources.
Sadly, after two seasons, the Weinstein Company withdrew from the production. Fans, on the other hand, begged for the show’s return. Netflix reportedly lost $200 million in the first two seasons, according to reports. Even so, does a lack of funds explain the deletion, or was there anything else going on in the works that caused it?
To be honest, I don’t know.
Since the conclusion of Marco Polo Season 2 in July 2016, the third season’s future has been uncertain. “Marco Polothird “‘s season was cancelled by Netflix on December 12, 2016, after the company reported a loss of about $200 million. It was decided with Weinstein’s approval since he is the show’s producer.
Although Marco Polo’s second season was cancelled, rumours and suspicions of a third season haven’t subsided at all. There hasn’t been any official word from Netflix or the show’s producers on whether or not Marco Polo will be back for season three, but these talks have encouraged fans to hold out hope.
What’s Going On Here?
As for the season 3 plot, the nature of the production and who will star in it remain a mystery.
Kublai Khan, the Great Khan of the Mongol Empire and creator of the Yuan dynasty, is the subject of a Netflix original series, Marco Polo, which follows Marco Polo’s early years in the court of Kublai Khan, the Great Khan of the Mongol Empire. The Great Khan of the Mongol Empire, Kublai Khan, was also the founder of the Yuan dynasty.
Viewers across the globe fell in love with the historical drama’s beautiful locations and cinematography. Those who appreciate historical drama and fantastic effects will get what they want from this show.
Almost everyone else in the story is of a different race or ethnicity, with the notable exception of Marco’s uncle, who is a member of the Mongol race.
A statement by Cindy
Cindy Holland, Netflix’s vice president, issued a statement after the show’s cancellation.
All of our collaborators on Marco Polo, from the artists, whose performances were outstanding and top-notch; to the committed producers, including Dan Minahan, John Fusco, Patrick MacManus and their team, we would like to acknowledge and appreciate. From the beginning to the conclusion, everyone at The Weinstein Company was a terrific collaborator. They all put their hearts and souls into the programme.”
This will be the last season of Marco Polo in which the show’s protagonist, Marco Polo, appears.
Currently, Netflix and the show’s creators have not made any formal announcements or statements on the cast of Marco Polo Season 3.
There’s minimal likelihood that many of the original cast and crew members will return for Marco Polo Season 3 due to their current commitments.
Lorenzo Richelmy, the show’s central protagonist, has agreed to appear in the Triangle premiere episode of ABC.
Actor Benedict Wong is now working on Marvel’s big-budget feature picture that is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2015.
Similarly, Jia Mei Lin is portrayed in the film by Remy Hii, Olivia Cheng, Claudia Kim and Uli Latukefu. Byamba is one of the extra cast members who is still bound by the terms of their previous contracts.
To see the original cast and characters return for Marco Polo Season 3, viewers will have to be patient and understanding.
