Bridgerton is still a tremendous sensation in its second season, breaking Netflix’s record for an English language series in terms of ratings.
It’s no surprise, then, that the Regency-era drama is poised to return, having already been renewed for a third and fourth season. Not only that, but a Bridgerton prequel focusing on Queen Charlotte is already in development.
For the time being, fans are anticipating the exciting third season and wondering if Benedict Bridgerton would reprise his role as the lead character from Julia Quinn’s romance novel series.
Nothing is guaranteed, though, and Lady Danbury actress Adjoa Andoh recently told RadioTimes.com that season 3 will feature a “fresh take” on the source material.
In season 2, Netflix drastically changed the plot (spoilers ahead! ), with Anthony Bridgerton actually becoming engaged to Edwina Sharma before marrying her older sister, Kate.
Release date for Season 3 of Bridgerton
We don’t have a release date for season three yet, but we do know it’s coming.
Season four is also on the way, according to the latest news! So there’s much more scandal in the Regency-era London aristocracy. A prequel is currently under development, focusing on Queen Charlotte, Violet Bridgerton, and Lady Danbury when they were younger.
Unfortunately, unlike other Netflix shows, we have no way of knowing when the show will return. Season one premiered on December 25, 2020, and season two premiered on March 25, 2022.
Season three could theoretically premiere in March 2023, allowing them the rest of the year to film and a few months for post-production.
This appears to be in accordance with an online casting request for extras and crew that promises the show will be shot from June 2022 until late January 2023. However, this has not been confirmed, so while it appears to be factual, it is not.

3rd season of Bridgerton
This is the biggest mystery thus far, with everyone involved keeping their mouths shut about what will happen next. Bridgerton is based on Julia Quinn’s eight-book series, which follows the lives of eight siblings as they search for love.
So far, Netflix has only aired the first two volumes, which recount the stories of Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Anthony (Jonathan Bailey). As a result, it’s reasonable to assume that the plot of Bridgerton season 3 will be based on the third novel in the series.
An Offer From A Gentleman chronicles the story of Benedict (Luke Thompson), the second oldest sibling when he meets Miss Sophie Beckett. Bridgerton season 2 did, however, establish the romantic relationship between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), which is the basis for the fourth novel in the romance trilogy.
The most ominous sign of what’s to come came from Rhimes, who hinted that the show’s seasons would “not be going in order” of the books. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she stated: “Because there are eight Bridgerton siblings, we’ll be covering each of their romantic relationships. We won’t necessarily travel in chronological sequence, but we will see each of the siblings and hear their experiences.” There’s a good probability that Penelope and Colin will be central to a new season.

Bridgerton season 3 casting
“We’ll be right back!” She stated, “Kate and Anthony are just getting started.” “In season 3, we have the incredible Jess Brownell assuming the reins as showrunner.”
“Everything, I believe, is just getting started. In Season 3, I’d like to see Kate let go a little more and play more in order for them to swim in that circle of love together. They both deserve it, in my opinion.”
“She’s in command of the household now and she’s got huge boots to put on,” Ashley said, promising viewers a “more headstrong” Kate in season 3. I believe she is capable.
“I definitely want to keep Kate’s sensitivity and gentleness to myself, and she can share it with Anthony.” I’m just looking forward to her having a home and a family. I’m looking forward to watching her develop.”

How did the second season of Bridgerton end
In case you missed it, the end of Season 2 featured Anthony and Kate as happy, PDA-heavy newlyweds at the Featherington Ball. Penelope instills terror in her apprentice Theo, so the intellectual ends their relationship.
Benedict drops out of art school after learning that Anthony was in thanks to a huge donation. Queen Charlotte mentions that she might link up Edwina with her nephew Prince Friedrich (Freddie Stroma), who wooed Daphne in season 1, and Colin has a brief hero moment disclosing Lord Featherington’s con.
