A few states have already begun issuing their own stimulus cheques, despite the fact that the federal government is unlikely to do so. This information is essential.
California
“Inflation relief” stimulus checks for Californians will total $1,050, CBS News reports. Newsom approved a $308 billion state budget earlier last month, which includes these payments.
Californians will get a total of $9.5 billion in tax refunds as a result of the inflation relief checks.
Colorado
If you submitted your 2021 tax return before June 30, you’ll get a little extra money at the end of the month. If you and your spouse are filing a combined tax return, you’ll get $1,500 from the state of Colorado. Filers who requested an extension and submitted their paperwork by the deadline of October 17 will be reimbursed by January 31, 2023.
Delaware
Due to a budget excess, Delaware began paying $300 “relief rebate” payments to taxpayers who filed returns in 2020 May. Couples filing jointly in Delaware are eligible for a $300 payment apiece.
Georgia
A law approved by Governor Brian Kemp provides refund payments of $250 for individuals filing a tax return, $375 for heads of household, and $500 for couples filing a joint tax return.
State budget surpluses were used to fund this stimulus package.
Hawaii
Residents with a combined income of less than $200,000 in 2021 will be eligible for a $300 tax credit. The reimbursement will be extended to those who have dependents. A one-time payment of $100 will be made to residents who earn more than $100,000 (or $200,000 if they file jointly). As soon as late August, Hawaii’s Department of Taxation said payments would be mailed out.

Idaho
In February, Gov. Brad Little approved legislation that would award $75 to each taxpayer and dependent, or 12 percent of their 2020 state income tax return, whichever is greater. In March, the first round of checks was sent out.
Illinois
On July 1, the state passed a relief package worth $1.83 billion. Income and property tax rebates are included in the package, as well as a short-term reduction in sales taxes.
Joint filers earning less than $400,000 in 2021 will receive $100 in an income tax rebate, CNET reports. Individuals earning less than $200,000 in 2021 will receive $50. Approximately eight weeks after the distribution date of Sept. 12, checks are expected to begin being distributed.
Indiana
Throughout the month of May, Indiana began issuing $125 payments to all residents, regardless of income. If this is true, it is part of the state’s automatic return policy. In addition, Gov. Eric Holcomb is encouraging state legislators to raise the stimulus package by $225.
Maine
As a result of the state’s budget excess, Maine has lately begun delivering relief cheques of up to $850 to households. By Oct. 31, 2022, Maine residents who file a 2021 income tax return as full-time residents of the state by checking this website will get a check.
New Jersey
According to Gov. Phil Murphy’s plan, $53 million would be set aside for $500 payouts to people who file their taxes using a taxpayer identification number rather than their Social Security number. There will be an additional 1 million New Jersey citizens who will receive $500 checks in the fall of 2021 after Murphy and the state legislature approved a budget with that provision.
New Mexico
Michelle Lujan Grisham, the newly elected governor, signed a bill in the first week of March that will provide citizens making less than $75,000 a year a $250 rebate and everyone else a $500 payout. The $250 rebates will be distributed this month, while the $500 payout will be distributed in two installments — one in June and the other in August.
Oregon
According to the Oregon Department of Revenue, approximately 236,000 low-income Oregonians who worked during the pandemic will get $600 payouts.
Individuals in Oregon who claimed the state’s Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC) on their 2020 personal income tax returns and who resided in Oregon for the last six months of 2020 are eligible to receive these payments.
Pennsylvania
Property tax/rent rebates, totaling $121.7 million, were established by the state in July and will be distributed to low- and moderate-income residents, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities. Visit myPath online or submit a paper application by Dec. 31, 2022, if you are eligible for the program.
Direct deposit or cheque payments will be made. In addition, some homeowners may be eligible for further reimbursements of up to $925, according to the state’s Department of Revenue.
Virginia
A $250 one-time payment for individuals and a $500 one-time payment for joint filers were approved by the General Assembly in July.
