Lindsey Caroline Vonn, born on October 18, 1984, is a former member of the United States Ski Team and former World Cup alpine ski racer. Four World Cup overall championships — second only to Annemarie Moser-Pröll among female skiers — three in a row (2008-2009-2010), plus another in 2012, were hers. In the 2010 Winter Olympics, Vonn became the first American woman to win a gold medal in the downhill.
Eight World Cup downhill titles (2008-2013, 2015, 2016), five super-G crowns (2009-2012, 2015), and three consecutive combined crowns (2010-2012) round off her illustrious career. With her 20th crystal globe victory in 2016, she surpassed Sweden’s Ingemar Stenmark, who had previously won 19 crystal globes between 1975 and 1984. Only two skiers, men or women, have a higher super ranking than her.

Early Life
Linda Anne and Alan Lee Kildow welcomed Lindsey Caroline Kildow into the world on October 18, 1984, in St. Paul, Minnesota. It all started with her grandfather teaching her how to ski when she was just two years old and then she was enrolled in Erich Sailer’s legendary development-skiing course at Buck Hill in Burnsville, MN. Picabo Street, an Olympic gold medalist skier, first met Vonn when she was nine years old.
When she saw Vonn for the first time in 1999, Street was so moved by her encounter that she eventually became Vonn’s skiing mentor. When Vonn began training full-time in the late 1990s, the family relocated to Vail, Colorado. At the University of Missouri High School, she completed her secondary education entirely online.
