New PTRR Program Rules: More Benefits for Northampton Seniors

According to Northampton County, PA, the Northampton County Area Agency on Aging and the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue are working together to help people in Northampton County apply for the PA Property Tax Rent Rebate (PTRR) program. This program gives money back to eligible people like those who are at least 65 years old widows or widowers who are at least 50 years old and people with disabilities who are at least 18 years old. The PTRR program rules changed on January 16, 2024 and now people can get up to $1,000 back if they make $45,000 or less. This means more seniors in Northampton County can get help with their property taxes.

Application Assistance for PTRR Program: Northampton County Residents Urged to Apply by June 30, 2024

People who need help with the PTRR Program application PA-1000 can go to the PTRR Program website to see if they are qualify. The change to the PTRR program means about 3,700 more seniors in Northampton County can get help with their property taxes. People need to apply for the 2023 Property Tax or Rent Rebates by June 30, 2024. The Department of Revenue will check the program before June 30 and if they have more money they might let people apply until December 31, 2024.

The Northampton County Area Agency on Aging and the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue want to make sure everyone who is eligible can apply for the PTRR program. By helping people with their PTRR applications these groups hope to make it easier for seniors and people with disabilities to stay in their homes.
