Gov. Wes Moore has signed into law that extends eligibility to all Marylanders who will reclaim benefits stolen from their Electronic Benefits Transfer cards.
Maryland SNAP Update: Government Plans To Expand EBT Fraud Reimbursement
Governor Wes Moore announced today that there will be an expansion of eligibility to all Marylanders who will reclaim food and cash assistance funds stolen from their Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards.
According to him the country of Maryland is the first one who used government funds to reimburse some stolen Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits in the people’s EBT. Monday, during the Maryland General Assembly the SB2/HB50 has passed and signed into becoming a law. According to the new law that was signed, Marylanders have more time to be eligible and allows the EBT cardholders to reclaim benefits stolen from their card on January 21, 2020.
They have 21 months to reclaim the benefits. The General Assembly approved over $1.8 million in general funds just to reimburse that stolen money from adults and families who were denied before and now are already eligible.

Maryland SNAP Update: EBT Fraud Reimbursement Plans To Expand By The Government
Governor Moore said that it is a good thing to help those someone who needs help and are the victim of stealing. Citizens of Maryland who already filed for the benefit claims do not need to file again even if they were denied before. The Department of Human Services promised that they will review all the benefactors who passed and denied and make sure that they will get what they deserve.
