The Collective Abundance Fund, a beacon of hope for Indigenous communities in the Upper Plains, offers a unique opportunity for financial empowerment. NDN Collective established this initiative to combat poverty by providing substantial grants to eligible individuals residing in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
Building Wealth through Collective Abundance
Indigenous populations in the Upper Plains, particularly in Minnesota and the Dakotas, have the chance to transform their financial landscapes through the Collective Abundance Fund. With $7.9 million already disbursed to 200 grantees since May 2023, the program is set to reopen applications for 2024 on March 1st, extending its reach and impact within these communities.
In 2023, the Collective Abundance Fund granted payments of $25,000 and $50,000, with 128 recipients from South Dakota, 53 from Minnesota, and 19 from North Dakota. These substantial sums aim to uplift families and individuals, providing resources for long-term stability, cultural preservation, and economic growth.
The fund’s mission goes beyond alleviating immediate financial strain; it catalyzes intergenerational prosperity, addressing the systemic barriers that have perpetuated poverty among Indigenous groups. By harnessing the collective abundance of culture, knowledge, and assets, the fund empowers recipients to chart a path toward sustainable livelihoods and holistic well-being.
