Overthrow of NYT

The New York Times just acquired the well-known online game; the news was announced a few days ago. The game first became available to the general public in October 2021.

Josh Wardle, the developer of Wordle, has revealed that he would work with The New York Times to keep track of players’ previous victories and winning streaks if the game is moved to a new location. Once it moves to the Times’ website, Wordle, according to the publication, “will initially stay free to new and existing players.”

Wardle explains in his announcement of the sale that running the wildly popular game has “been a little overwhelming,” especially given that he is the only one who actually handles running the entire game, for a price that The New York Times’ announcement reports is “an undisclosed price in the low seven figures.”
