Production Update for Wednesday

Production for the series got underway in Bucharest, Romania on September 13, 2021, and wrapped up on March 30, 2022. Is there anything we can expect to happen on Wednesday?

Wednesday has been described as a coming-of-age drama, a supernatural thriller, a supernatural mystery, and a supernatural comedy. The first season, which consists of 8 episodes, depicts Wednesday Addams’ time spent as a student at evermore Academy. “Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore,” reads the official synopsis released by Netflix.

Cast of Wednesday

In May of 2021, Jenna Ortega was chosen to play the title role. She uploaded a selfie holding the pilot script to Instagram with the comment, “New chapter.” I pray I can do justice to Wednesday Addams. snap, snap

A first glance at Jenna’s transformation into the character was posted by Netflix a little over a year later, and she looks terrifyingly unrecognizable as Wednesday Addams. Jenna can be seen in fresh photographs posted by Netflix with her hair in long braids and her distinctive Wednesday white collar, long sleeve black dress, startlingly pale skin, and apathetically gaunt look.

And Jenna’s transformation into the role is so lifelike it’s unsettling. So that’s the point, then, I take it?

Actors Catherine Zeta-Jones (Chicago) and Luis Guzmán (Narcos) have been hired as Morticia and Gomez Addams, respectively, in the upcoming film Addams Family Values. New cast members include Christina Ricci (“new character not an older version of Wednesday”), as well as Isaac Ordonez, Thora Birch, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Hunter Doohan, Georgie Farmer, Moosa Mostafa, Emma Myers, Naomi J. Ogawa, Joy Sunday, Percy Hynes White, Gwendoline Christie, and more.”
