Just in time for the month of June’s end, here are a few of the most notable LGBTQ+ fictional couples that have been well worth the trip to the Pride Thirty Days period. These couples fought and walked for the rights of today’s LGBTQ+ couples to exist on television and in films.
When it comes to LGBTQ+ representation in media, some ships will be remembered for breaking new ground and for the characters’ bravery to be happy with who they are, regardless of whether they were portrayed by actors or animation, or debuted a decade ago or today.
Glee’s Kurtis and Blaine
Throughout the six seasons of Glee, Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer) and Blaine Anderson (Darren Criss) simultaneously crammed everyone’s hearts and broke them. While the exhibit featured a wide range of LGBTQ+ characters, it was Kurt and Blaine who set the tone for the rest of the characters.

Only a few of the show’s main characters were openly homosexual or lesbian, but there were also a number of minor characters who were transgender, as well as bisexual and polysexual characters in its spin-off, Good Things.

Alisha Hawthorne (Uzo Aduba) is the result of a lesbian couple in the background of Finding Dory and Officer Specter obtaining a girlfriend in Onward.
Disney tried to remove the scene, but Pixar insisted on including Alisha despite the company’s objections.
“Steven Universe” Ruby and Sapphire Are
It was something you would never see on a kid’s cartoon in the 1990s or 2000s, let alone an openly LGBTQ+ character, but Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe took the risk when the show’s season premiered.
the first animated series to receive a GLAAD Award for Superb Children and Household System for a 22-minute extended episode in Season 5 that not only showed the characters kissing, but also invited viewers to their wedding, the show’s romantic relationship helped gain the honor.
They Are David and Patrick (from “Schitt’s Creek”)
Aside from David (Dan Levy) and Patrick (Noah Reidlike )’s story, Schitt’s Creek had many other memorable episodes.

Ellen and Will and Grace paved the way for openly gay couples on primetime sitcoms like Modern Household, which featured Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet).
A story about an openly gay couple adopting a child was the focus of the show’s premiere, which ended with the couple performing a full-length version of “The Lion King” in front of their family and friends to introduce their new daughter.
