Pokémon Squishmallows are here and huggable, and we want one now that it’s official. Alternatively, there could be a dozen of them. Pikachu and Gengar will make their first appearance at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, according to the official press.
The Official Squishmallows Twitter Account Tweeted a Graphic
It’s no secret that Squishmallows are huge collectible plushes in the form of adorable animals and/or brand-related merchandise. Yesterday, the official Squishmallows Twitter account tweeted a graphic that prominently featured a large round Pikachu silhouette. In the evening, Jazwares brand manager Aaron Margolin tweeted a picture of the SDCC display, which featured plushes of Pikachu and Gengar. Pokemon Center in the fall of 2022 has also been announced by Jazwares via Toybox as the release date.

It’s official, Squishmallows x Pokémon. ⚡️@Pokemon #SquishmallowsxPokemon #SDCC @Jazwares https://t.co/czI7m4PCL1
Pikachu, Togepi, Snorlax, and Gengar are the four plushes that Squish Alert—an app that tracks Squishmallow restocks—says are coming. Squishmallows have yet to be confirmed for other Pokemon games if any at all. Toys are not SDCC exclusives, but Margolin clarified on Twitter that the toys will be available to the general public in the future.
Jazwares’ Gerhard Runken, senior vice president of brand and marketing, said, “Joining forces with Pokémon to bring fans this monumental new offering takes the Squishmallows brand to a completely new level of pop-culture cool” (the company that makes Squishmallows).

“Pokémon continues to offer new and premier ways for fans to experience and show their love for the brand,” said Amy Sachtleben, licensing director at The Pokémon Company International.
Jazwares and Squishmallows have teamed up for a unique collaboration that will delight fans of both brands. At Comic-Con International in San Diego and on PokemonCenter.com, we can’t wait to see what people think about the game.
Pokémon Squishmallows Release Date
Pokémon Squishmallows have no set release date as of yet, but Squish Alert reports that it could happen as early as the second half of 2022, or even the following year. Fortunately, they won’t be limited to the San Diego Comic-Con. Anyone can purchase them at any Target location, according to reports.
Squishmallows will be released this year because they were announced in 2022 and shown off at Comic-Con in 2021.

When can we expect the Pokémon Squishmallows?
In fact, they could even be a good choice for the holiday shopping season. Even if they aren’t widely available, it’s good to know that these won’t be a limited-edition item.
Not only are Pikachu and Gengar Squishmallows being released, but there will be others as well! They’re just going to be the first ones to go on sale. Some speculate that Togepi and Snorlax will follow soon after. While all four options are expected to be available in 14-inch sizes, the Togepi and Snorlax are said to have a 20-inch option available. You can find Squishmallows of all sizes—from five-inch minis to 24-inch big boys. Up to $50 is a typical price.
