We’ve been waiting for Season 3 of Outer Banks to arrive, and we can’t wait any longer! More than a year has passed since the second season of the Netflix drama premiered, and viewers are eager to see what comes next for John B. (Chase Stokes) and his band of treasure-hunting comrades. The Season 2 finale dropped a bombshell: John B’s dad, Big John (Charles Halford), is still alive, as we learned when our beloved Pogues escaped a gunfight on the Coastal Venture in a lifeboat. In the third season of Outer Banks, will we finally see the father and son reunite?
The series centers on a gang of teenage Pogues in the Outer Banks of North Carolina; as John B. puts it, they are “the lowest member of the food chain.” John B. and his buddies set off on a quest to discover what happened to his father, but their expedition quickly turns into a dangerous treasure hunt when they encounter the rival Kooks.
Season 3 of Outer Banks Release Date
The third season of Outer Banks would be great, but when will it be available on Netflix? OK, so let’s make an informed guess. The production of Season 2 began in August 2020 and ended at the beginning of April 2021. Approximately seven months passed while that was happening. Three months and a few days later, in July 2021, Netflix unveiled the second season of the mystery drama.
Filming for Season 3 began in February. So, assuming all goes according to plan, we should be expected to release at the end of September 2022.

Latest Updates
Elizabeth Mitchell, who plays the conniving Carla Limbrey on the show, gave Metacritic an exclusive preview of what’s to come for her character in the future. Big John (Charles Halford) and I hang together quite a bit, which is great because he’s great, Mitchell remarked.
Pictures confirming the start of Season 3 production were uploaded to the official Outer Banks account on February 28.
Season 2 of Outer Banks ended on a cryptic note, with Big John promising Limbrey his assistance in finding the shroud with healing abilities in exchange for Limbrey’s assistance in aiding his son John B. You might not call it “teaming up,” but they certainly spend a lot of time together in the beginning. But Limbrey has already murdered her half-brother, so she clearly can’t be trusted. Simply put, “I don’t know that Limbrey is truly a team player,” Mitchell remarked of Limbrey.

Season 2 of “What Really Happened in the Outer Banks”
A near-death encounter for the Pogues occurred at the end of Season 2 of Outer Banks, just as it did at the end of Season 1. Much of the second episode of the Netflix show focused on John B., Sarah, JJ, Kiara, and Pope as they searched for and eventually recovered the stolen Cross of Santo Domingo.
As the season finale drew to a close, the crew made a covert attempt to steal the cross from the Coastal Venture. After a wild gunfight, they were ultimately defeated and forced to flee on a lifeboat. Even though the Pogues came away empty-handed once again, the episode concluded on a high note as they celebrated their continued survival and the fact that they were all together and safe.
