In a recent interview for the third installment of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, Jared Leto says, “I’ve done a lot of this in films.” He goes on to say that gaining weight is harder for him to do than losing it, and he advises his fans not to try to put on 67 pounds in a short amount of time as he did.

In his own words, “It’s not a fun thing. He claims it’s terrible for your health and physique and that you should avoid doing it at all costs.

“Weight loss is unique because the concept of self-limitation is one that has fascinated humanity for centuries. In the context of a search for meaning in life, practices like fasting and meditation can be quite helpful. Also, there’s a fascinating aspect to that procedure.

To be perfectly frank, gaining is much more difficult, especially when it comes to a weight gain/loss cycle of that magnitude. It’s human nature to regain weight after losing it, so I thought, “Hey, this movie’s fantastic for me because it has both the kinds of large physical obstacles and emotional issues that I’m interested in as an actor.”

Leto Has Become Known as One of Hollywood’s Most Dedicated Actors

thanks to his portrayal of the Joker in Suicide Squad and his ability to disappear beneath prosthetics in the film House of Gucci to the point where even his co-star Al Pacino didn’t recognize him. His Morpheus coworkers corroborate this.

Matt Smith, who portrays Michael Morbius’s surrogate brother turned villain Milo, says of Michael, “I’ve never experienced it, and he stays pretty close to the character the whole time, physically, psychologically, emotionally.” Once he gets into his groove, nothing can stop him.

Director Daniel Espinosa adds, “As a director, it’s a privilege to work with somebody who is not merely committed, but obsessive.”

As one crew member put it, “it pushes the whole team… to be with somebody who is so immersing at times, it was almost a bit terrifying ’cause he’s very passionate and those transformations, at times it appeared like they would tear him apart.”

Adria Arjona, who plays Morbius’s scientific colleague (and potential love interest) Martine Bancroft, agrees, saying, “It was incredibly fun to work with someone.” And I agree with Danny; I found that it might be quite terrifying at times.

Then I’d get a good look at his physical obligations as I observed him from behind. Moreover, he could stay in character for long periods of time. I just couldn’t picture myself sitting like that for hours on end. To witness what that did to his physique was both impressive and horrifying.
