When Bison Dele played center for the Orlando Magic, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, Chicago Bulls, and Detroit Pistons during his professional career in the U.S., he dated Serena Karlan, a woman from the Czech Republic.
Hakuna Matata was a catamaran owned and helmed by Dele in July 2002, when Karlan and Dele set sail for the South Pacific. Bertrand Saldo, the yacht’s skipper, and Dele’s brother, Miles Dabord, had accompanied them on their journey (born Kevin Williams).
Their trek back and forth was cut short two days into the trip when the explorers disappeared into thin air. After his retirement, Dele spent time in Lebanon, the Mediterranean, and the Australian outback before purchasing a catamaran and learning to sail. During the September 2001 terror attacks in New York, Dele convinced his girlfriend, Karlan, to join him on his yacht.

Her name has eluded the public eye. Other reports state that she is presumed deceased. For his part, Dele’s younger brother Miles had to flee to Mexico after being thrown from an airplane over Arizona.
