Despite the fact that it’s easy to overlook now, Disney-owned Lucasfilm produced one of the most intriguing “Star Wars” films ever in 2016. “The Force Awakens” smashed box office records and signaled that the franchise was returning with a fury, but fans received a radically different follow-up in terms of tone, themes, and style. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” instead introduced a slew of new characters whose roles in the Rebellion were somewhat inconsequential compared to the Skywalkers. “Star Wars” placed the “war” in the war when each of those characters gave their lives for the cause in the last act… albeit after successfully obtaining the Death Star designs and making it possible for the 1977 “Star Wars” picture to unfold as it did.
Six years later, that supposed one-and-done story is going to prove if it justifies the creation of an altogether new prequel series. “Andor” arrives with a lot of hype, a lot of story potential, and hopefully a chance for Diego Luna to touch Jabba the Hutt. Here’s everything you need to know about “Andor,” which will air in a few short weeks on Amazon Prime.
Andor Release Date
As of this year’s Celebration, “Andor” was expected to premiere on August 31, 2022. As a result of these changes in the original air date’s intentions, This new series’ premiere date has been pushed back over a month to the end of September 2022, as evidenced by the release of a new series trailer. Numerous aspects come into play here, not the least of which is the August 17 premiere of Marvel’s She-Hulk. Because of this, it’s possible that “Andor” and other Disney-owned titles will be overshadowed by each other in the coming months.
Additionally, the “Star Wars” series competes with two other prominent genre shows that air at the same time. On August 21, HBO’s “House of the Dragon” will premiere, while Prime Video’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is scheduled for September 2.
It doesn’t matter which of these shows fans prefer, they’ll be in for a treat in the months to come as they all compete for the top spot. If you’re a ‘Star Wars fan, you only need to know that Disney+ will release the first three episodes of ‘Andor’ all at once, starting September 21, 2022.
