The Morning Show is a not-so-secretly trashy, incredibly entertaining Apple TV+ series that combines the serious, issue-focused investigation of prestige television with the dirty, backstabbing shenanigans of a workplace soap opera.
As the show moves into its third season, the addition of more controversial characters can only enhance the world-building that features well-known media figures entangled in personal hypocrisy.
This includes bolstering the show’s appeal by bringing back Julianna Margulies in the role she played in season two, as well as by adding Jon Hamm and Nicole Beharie of Honk! for Jesus, Save Your Soul.

American stand-up comedian, writer, radio contributor, and actress Mathilde O’Callaghan “Tig” Notaro was born on March 24, 1971.
She has a reputation for stoic humor. At the 56th Annual Grammy Awards in 2014, she was nominated for Best Comedy Album for her critically praised album Live.
Tig Notaro: Boyish Girl Interrupted was nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special at the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2016. At the 59th Annual Grammy Awards in 2017, the album Boyish Girl Interrupted was shortlisted for Best Comedy Album.

Early Life
The daughter of Mathilde “Susie” O’Callaghan and Pat Notaro, Notaro was born in Jackson, Mississippi. New Orleans is where her mother was born. To the end of kindergarten, Notaro lived in Pass Christian, Mississippi.
When she was older, she and her family relocated to Spring, Texas, a suburb of Houston. Renaud Notaro, her older brother, is also in the media industry and a radio talk show host. When she was just two years old, her older brother gave her the nickname “Tig.”
John Fitzpatrick, Notaro‘s great-great-grandfather, served as mayor of New Orleans from 1892 to 1896. Notaro discovered that she is a distant cousin of Gloria Steinem when participating in season 5 of Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr.
Career
Notaro co-wrote, produced, and starred in the semi-autobiographical Amazon Video pilot One Mississippi in November of 2015. A month later, Amazon ordered a full season of the show (6 episodes). After her mother’s unexpected death, the show’s protagonist, played by Tig Notaro, returns to her birthplace of Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi.
In 2015, HBO broadcasted Tig Notaro: Boyish Girl Interrupted, her first stand-up special. Just Putting It Out There by Aparna Nancherla was also released in 2016 on her own label, Bentzen Ball Records.
On April 10, 2018, it was revealed that Tig Notaro would play U.S.S. Hiawatha Chief Engineer Jett Reno in the upcoming second season of Star Trek: Discovery.
On May 22, 2018, Notaro’s second one-hour special, Happy to Be Here, was published on Netflix.
Notaro replaced Chris D’Elia, who was accused of sexual misconduct, in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead with CGI during post-production.
Personal Life
On the set of “In a World” (2013), where Tig first met Stephanie Allynne, the two hit it off and eventually got engaged on January 1, 2015. The couple wed on October 24, 2015, and on June 26, 2016, they had surrogate-born sons Finn and Max (using Stephanie’s eggs). Tig is a music lover who picked up the guitar at age 9 and the drums at age 22.
2012 is the year Notaro describes as “the year my life broke apart.” Tig’s mother, who was 66 years old, passed very suddenly from injuries sustained in a fall not long after Tig’s release from the hospital in March, where she had been recovering from a near-fatal case of C-diff.
Having been diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer in July, Notaro subsequently had a double mastectomy and hormone-blocking treatment. In this time frame, she also tried and failed IVF treatments, and her relationship ended.
