As the state funeral for the Queen approaches, it looks that one member of the royal family may wind up being the person who helps repair conflicts between Princes William and Harry.
According to reports, tensions between the brothers have been growing ever since the Duke of Sussex stepped down from his royal duties and relocated to the United States with his wife Meghan Markle in 2020.
However, with their grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s passing last week, it appears that tensions have subsided as they seek to present a united face during this time of mourning.
The brothers and their wives went on a walkabout together around Windsor Castle on Saturday (September 10), two days after Her Majesty’s death, to view floral tributes and meet with mourners.

Conveying the Queen’s coffin from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall is another hint that relations between the two are improving. There, Her Majesty will lie in state until her funeral on Monday.
At this time, it is unknown whether or not the brothers will be buried side by side during the state burial, which will be broadcast across the world. The recent developments between the siblings, though, have rekindled optimism that this is possible.
This would be different from last year when the Duke of Edinburgh’s coffin entered St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle with Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips famously standing between the two.
Peter, the eldest grandchild of Queen Elizabeth and the seventeenth in line to the throne, is thought to have mediated disputes between his relatives at the time.
Many believe he will reprise that role at Monday’s state funeral. The Telegraph quotes a royal source as saying: “For the most part, Peter acts as a buffer between the two parties involved. He may try to reclaim that position in an effort to move them forward as a unit.”
Peter, Princess Royal, and his sister Zara Tindall, all of whom reside in Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire, marched in the parade from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall alongside William and Harry. He has also appeared alongside relatives during visits to examine tributes placed to the Queen.
