Nicole Scherzinger is speaking out about the newly leaked X Factor tape of the formation of One Direction, in which it was revealed to the shock of many fans that she, not Simon Cowell, made the final decisions.
The “Puakenikeni” singer was asked about the 2010 video (published in July) in which she is shown assembling the group during an appearance on Sherri earlier this week.
Shepard, 55, said to Scherzinger, “I always thought it was Simon Cowell who birthed One Direction, until I viewed the unpublished film,” referring to the now-solo musicians Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne.
“Mmhmm. What you’re saying is ridiculous, Sherri. To be perfectly frank, I had no idea this footage would ever be released “ex-Pussycat Dolls lead singer, 44, responded. Simon may have torched it, but I believed he did.
“I think it’s awesome that it turned out the way it did because what viewers saw is how my mind was actually putting things together. I’m fresh off my stint in a girl band “the time she spent as a member of the Pussycat Dolls, she explained. “From personal experience, I can attest to the benefits of working in a team. We need to work together.”
When asked if she was “still waiting on her commission,” the singer joked that she was “very proud” to have played a “little” or “large part” in the process.
When asked to elaborate, Shepard said, “Every time I see Simon, I’m going to be side-eyeing him.”

Covered in images of the hopefuls, discussing who should move on to the next stage. The “Buttons” singer initially placed Horan’s photo above the group, before adding those of Styles and Tomlinson.
Cowell suggested Payne advance as a solo act because of his “standout” audition, but Scherzinger demanded he stays with the group. Eventually, Walsh proposed Malik as the third and last member, and the judges accepted his suggestion.

Who Is Nicole Scherzinger?
Born Nicole Prascovia Elikolani Valiente on June 29, 1978, Nicole Scherzinger (/rzr/) is a famous American performer in many different fields. She rose to fame as the voice of the Pussycat Dolls, one of the most successful girl groups in history.
Scherzinger began acting when she was 14 and went on to study musical theatre at Wright State University. She was born in Honolulu, Hawai’i, and grew up in Louisville, Kentucky.
Scherzinger dropped out of college to pursue a career in music and went on tour with the American rock band Days of the New. She later found some success with the female group Eden’s Crush, which she formed through The WB’s Popstars.
Scherzinger joined the Pussycat Dolls as their main singer after dabbling in a bit of acting. Their disagreements about her leadership role were a factor in the group’s demise in 2009. Scherzinger has had difficulty building a solo singing career despite her widespread fame.
Early Life
Alfonso Valiente, a Filipino, and Rosemary Elikolani Frederick, a Native Hawaiian, Ukrainian, and Polish, had a daughter named Nicole Prascovia Elikolani Valiente on June 29, 1978, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
When Nicole was two years old, Alfonso abandoned the family.
Rosemary later wed the German-American Gary Scherzinger, who adopted Nicole and gave her his last name. There is a younger sibling named Keala. Her mother worked as a clerk, and her stepfather was a welder, thus the family decided to relocate to Louisville, Kentucky when she was six years old.
Scherzinger characterizes her upbringing as challenging, saying that she was raised “without much money” and that she helped support her family by working as a server, modeling in local magazines, and performing with a local company at the Kentucky Kingdom amusement park.
Career
Beginning the new year by serving as a judge on the reality singing competition The Masked Singer, in which celebrities perform cover versions of popular songs while hiding their identities behind masks, Scherzinger has been actively involved in the entertainment industry.
As its name suggests, the show has been a rating triumph for the network ever since its launch, which was the highest-rated premiere of any unscripted television series in the United States since The X Factor US in 2011.
In May of this year, Scherzinger was confirmed to serve as a judge on the upcoming ninth season of Australia’s Got Talent. In the months of October–December 2019, she served as a judge on the Celebrity and The Band spinoff of The X Factor.
A reunited Pussycat Dolls (Sutta, Bachar, Roberts, Scherzinger, and Wyatt) performed their hit singles and their latest single “React” live on the season finale of The X Factor: Celebrity. The British media watchdog Ofcom received more than 400 complaints from viewers who found the band’s performance to be offensive or inappropriate.

The series’ highest viewership ever was for the season three debut of The Masked Singer in February 2020, when it followed Super Bowl LIV.
In the same month, the Pussycat Dolls dropped their single “React,” which charted moderately. In the Netflix original anime series Trese, voiced by Scherzinger, the first episode was released on June 10, 2021. Annie Live!, a musical television special shown by NBC on December 2, 2021, starred Scherzinger as Grace Farrell.
