How rich is Jay Leno?
A lot of money must be being made by whoever has such a large garage. Thanks to his years of successful stand-up tours and TV deals, Jay Leno has more than enough money to cover the costs. Current estimates put his wealth at $450 million, with his annual income putting him in the $10 million to $15 million range.
He maintains he has never spent any of the money he has received from NBC, instead supporting himself with the proceeds from his stand-up performances and his automotive-related business ventures. Maybe this is why his car collection isn’t worth very much despite being so intrinsic to his public character.
As of July 2022, DuPont Registry believes his collection to be valued at around $52 million. This estimate appears rather modest, given that his 12 most costly automobiles are considered to be worth over $40 million. Even if his collection is worth $52 million, that’s only 8.65 percent of his overall wealth, which is a lot less than most people would guess. However, each of his 180+ automobiles has a unique history and personality, and some are even one-offs that Leno himself restored or commissioned. These 12 vehicles are some of his most valued possessions and have all appeared on his Jay Leno’s Garage TV show or his YouTube channel at some point.
Car Collection of Jay Leno
Jay leno has always had a deep interest in automobiles (which is likely why he now works in the auto industry). When young Leno discovered his love for cars, he bought his first one for only $350, long before he could afford to start a collection. The business news channel CNBC heard his story.
“My father told me to “get busy working on that ’34 Ford pickup truck” because I had two years to go before I could acquire my driver’s license. Now I know how to make it work and fix it if it breaks.”
He expanded his collection of automobiles in direct proportion to his increasing wealth. Over the years, he has amassed one of the finest private automobile collections in the world. There’s an elevator in his house, so he can quickly get from his bedroom to his carport. The majority of Jay’s collection—now numbering 170 automobiles and more than 100 motorcycles—is stored in a larger garage near Burbank.
There are several of his automobiles that are each worth more than $1 million on their own. Among his collection of expensive automobiles are a 2014 McLaren P1 (estimated value: $1.35 million), a 1955 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing Coupe (estimated value: $1.8 million), and a 2006 GM EcoJet (nearly considered priceless due to rarity).
Jay’s Lamborghini R485 tractor is an uncommon and expensive acquisition. Ferruccio Lamborghini, in the late ’60s, was responsible for the design of the tractor. The world-famous designer got his start in the automotive industry after World War II by creating designs for tractors and other industrial vehicles in Italy.
During those years, you could buy Mr. Leno’s version of the car. It’s not even close to being the kind of high-performance machine that Lamborghini is known for. A maximum speed of 14 mph is possible from its 5.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine. Also included are a Lamborghini Countach starting motor, a 12-speed transmission, and a two-foot clutch. It’s not a Rolls-Royce, but it’s a fascinating piece of history and it goes perfectly with the rest of your amazing collection.
Naturally, Jay Leno has a website and a TV show named Jay Leno’s Garage. The sum of Jay Leno’s automobile collection is estimated to be around $50 million. The sum might approach $100 million.

Personal Life
It was in 1980 that Jay and Mavis Leno tied the knot. The couple does not have any kids. Mavis is widely recognized as one of the most influential feminists in the state of California, the nation of the United States, and the world. Mavis Leno prefers to remain in the background as she manages and funds many politically active non-profit organizations, in contrast to her more public spouse.
Leno has led efforts to abolish gender discrimination in Afghanistan as the campaign’s leader for the Feminist Majority Foundation since 1997. Mavis and Jay gave a $100,000 donation to the group in 1999 to help raise awareness about the oppression of women in Afghanistan at the hands of the Taliban.
Leno’s parents both passed away: his mom at age 82 in 1993 and his dad at age 84 the following year. Patrick Leno, Leno’s older brother, passed away from cancer at the age of 62 in 2002. There is a connection between Leno’s dyslexia and his mandibular prognathism (a prominent jaw). Leno abstains from drugs, tobacco, and betting.
