Dolores Catania was born in Paterson, New Jersey, on December 28, 1970. Catania was born into an Italian-Irish family, with a police officer father and a homemaker mother.
Seton Hall University awarded her a Juris Doctor with a focus in Gambling Law. Dolores was previously married for ten years to businessman Frank Catania, whom she met when she was 19 years old. As a result of their relationship, they had two children: Gabrielle (born 1995) and Frankie (born 2000). (born 1998).
She had a brief cameo on RHONJ in 2009, but was not officially accepted until years later.

Career
Dolores worked as a prison officer after graduating from high school. She began working as a surgical technician after discovering her intention to pursue medical studies and complete medical training. She went on to work as a realtor for 15 years after that.
