During his rookie season, 2005-06, West was designated the starting point guard. By the 2006-07 season, West had been moved to the role of shooting guard. However, West’s luck ran out early in the tournament, and he was finally moved back to point guard.
In 2007, West was traded to the Seattle Supersonics, and in early 2008, he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of a three-team deal. Only six days after the trade, West hit a season-high with 20 points against the Boston Celtics as a Cavalier.
