It’s been nearly six months since they started dating, and Babyface, 64, seems completely smitten with Rika. Rika appears to share this sentiment, and not just for the practically elderly Babyface. She revealed her crush on “money” on Instagram yesterday. Babyface’s wealth is estimated to be around $200 million.

There were raised eyebrows when it was verified by Media Take Out that Babyface had taken her as his date to the BET Awards.

A Profession in The Music Industry

Funk singer Bootsy Collins, upon meeting Edmonds, dubbed him “Babyface” due to Edmonds’s juvenile appearance. As a guitarist, he also participated in the band Manchild (famous for their 1977 song “Especially for You” featuring Daryl Simmons).

He was a member of the Deele, a soft funk, and R&B band, where he played keyboards and guitar (which also included drummer Antonio “L.A.” Reid, with whom he would later form a successful writing and producing partnership).

In 1983, he made his mark as a songwriter for other singers with his composition of “Slow Jam” for the R&B group Midnight Star. Midnight Star included the song on their multi-platinum selling album No Parking on the Dance Floor from 1983. Babyface stayed with the Deele until 1988 when he and Reid finally parted ways.

The playlist has eight covers and two original compositions from him. On September 18th, 2007, it was finally released. The album marked the return of Mercury Records and served as the label’s debut release.

On Motown Records on February 4, 2014, he released a duet album with Toni Braxton titled Love, Marriage & Divorce, which went on to win a Grammy.

Producing

On Barbra Streisand’s album Partners, released in September 2014, Babyface sang a duet with her on the song “Evergreen” and provided background vocals for other tracks.

Foxes and Babyface worked together on the song “Scar,” which appeared on the 2016 album All I Need. “Stronger Together,” performed by Jessica Sanchez in July 2016, was written by Babyface, Bruce Roberts, and Carole Bayer Sager.
