Adam Levine Defends Himself Against Criticism
Adam Levine posted a series of videos on Instagram to defend himself against the backlash he was experiencing. According to People, a fan grabbed Adam’s arm during a performance of Sunday Morning at the 8th Annual We Can Survive concert given by the Audacy.
The lead singer of Maroon 5 was caught on camera mouthing the phrase “f—-” as security led the fan offstage.
The musician shared a clip of him saying, “In my Instagram stories, “I’m here to talk about the fan who interrupted my performance at the Hollywood Bowl.
I have always been someone who adores, admires, and even worships our devoted audience. Without the support of our audience, we would be out of business.
I tell our supporters that all the time. It makes me sick to my stomach to think that anyone would take me seriously if I said that our followers were beneath us or less than us. I just can’t be that way. Not ever in my life have I been like that.”
A Little More from The She Will Be Loved Singer
“I feel the need to clarify that I was somewhat startled and that it is necessary to “shake it off” and “move on” at moments like these.
Since I’m just doing my duty up there. In fact, it’s one of my greatest strengths, therefore I feel obligated to share with you that my true passion lies in the bond that develops between the onstage musicians and the audience.”
Some people defended the singer and thought the actor’s reaction was understandable, while others said the actor should have known better. To which another Twitter user replied, “um why is Adam Levine being villainized for reacting REASONABLY to some random fan running up to him when he was playing during a concert?”
Media
Four of Levine’s televised performances were hailed for their comedic value. In the inaugural episode of SNL’s 33rd season in 2007, he starred alongside Andy Samberg, Fred Armisen, and Jake Gyllenhaal in a digital short titled Iran So Far.
A funny bridge to a “love song” for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was sung by Levine, playing himself, as if he were the Iranian president. He appeared on the 2008 episode of “Night of Too Many Stars” on Comedy Central.
