While Disney continues to dominate global box office numbers and the majority of the year’s top release dates, there are a handful of films that fans have been eagerly anticipating.
Despite its current obsession with live-action remakes of its animated classics, Disney has always been associated with family-friendly animated films.
Ironically, Pixar Studios was the pinnacle of the mouse house’s animation endeavors, while Walt Disney Animation Studios, the mouse house’s in-house animation studio, faded into obscurity.
However, the odds have shifted in favor of the latter over the last decade, with global blockbusters like ‘Frozen’ and ‘Zootopia’ grossing over a billion dollars and, more importantly, the frenzy and impact these films have had on popular culture being unmatched, simply reinstating Disney’s colossal status in the market, even with its animation studio. ‘Disney,’ on the other hand, laughed all the way to the bank.
The internet has seen an increase in fan discussion for a ‘Zootopia’ sequel among a plethora of remakes, sequels, and a few yet extremely fascinating forthcoming Disney projects. On that front, the fans’ complaints have been heard, since it was recently revealed that a sequel is unofficially in the works.
Zootopia 2: New Release Date
The waiting is over, and the countdown has begun. Zootopia 2 will be released in March 2023. This is going to happen, so prepare yourself. The film will be released soon and will have the action and drama of a completely new story. We anticipate that the next installment will return us to our universe’s interesting story.
Zootopia 3 is also in the works, according to some rumors. According to reports, it will be introduced in June 2026. Since the release of the film in 2016, fans have been screaming for a sequel. It was originally scheduled to be phased out, but it has been in the works for the past two years. It’s finally here after a five-year wait. It was available on Disney+ and in cinemas.
The plot of the film Zootopia 2
Nick and Judy are both cops in Zootopia in the spin-off. Regardless, evil government operative Tadashi Gorki wants to become the legitimate city chairman of Zootopia, despite his attempts to obtain a secret test from a mysterious manufacturing plant and to free Bellwether from prison. His assistants must collect and seize him since they must lead instead of him – will Nick and Judy be able to save Tadashi on time?
While Disney is now unable to provide Zootopia fans with any details on the film’s next installment, there is some good news on another front. The entertainment behemoth announced in January 2019 that it will build a Zootopia-themed section at its Shanghai park. “Visitors will be welcomed to experience the mammalian metropolis of Zootopia, ‘where anyone can be anything,’ with another significant fascination,” Disney stated (by CNN). It’s time to plan a trip to China!
Zootopia managed to shatter film industry records and become the No. 1 vivified film in the nation’s set of experiences, so the manner Disney chose the location is anything from typical. That demonstrates how popular the film is and how effectively the message of the film is understood in many cultures.

Who will be on the Zootopia 2 cast?
While there is no official casting at this time, two cast members have already expressed interest in returning for a sequel. In a 2017 interview with The Sun, Mark Smith, who played grouchy Officer McHorn, said he would reprise his role in the sequel. He rose from low origins to become a “Gladiator” contender and subsequently an actor, earning the moniker “Rhino.”
“I can tell you for sure I’m doing another ‘Zootopia’ with Disney,” the late Tommy Lister, who played the rambunctious fox Finnick, revealed to fans during a meet & greet in 2019. He also claimed they were working on a trilogy and that the sequel will cost $300 million. It’s difficult to determine whether he’ll be replaced by another performer after his death in 2020.
Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, played by Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman, are expected to return as their respective major characters to continue fighting the good fight.
Byron Howard shared his affection for Officer Clawhauser (Nate Torrence), the exuberant, overweight cheetah, in a 2016 interview with Collider, and discussed how many possible paths another “Zootopia” tale may go. This could be a hint at a sequel (or trilogy) to come, or it could be something explored in “Zootopia+.”
