California families can look forward to a financial boost in January 2025 with the continuation of the $725 monthly stimulus checks. This is part of a program designed to help low-income households cope with rising costs of living. The payments, issued under the Family First Economic Support Pilot (FFESP), started in December 2024 and will run for a year, giving families consistent financial support.
What Is the FFESP Program?
The Family First Economic Support Pilot is a targeted initiative in Sacramento County aimed at assisting families facing financial challenges, particularly those with young children. Funded through a California Department of Social Services Block Grant, the program focuses on reducing disparities in underserved communities, including Black, American Indian, and Alaska Native populations.
Around 200 families are receiving these payments, which total $8,700 over 12 months.
Who Is Eligible for These Payments?
To qualify for the $725 monthly checks, families must meet certain criteria:
- Residency: Only residents in specific Sacramento ZIP codes (95815, 95821, 95823, 95825, 95828, or 95838) are eligible.
- Income: Household income must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. For a family of four, this means an annual income under $60,000.
- Children: Families need to have at least one child under the age of five living with them at least half the time.
- Other Programs: Participants cannot be part of other guaranteed income programs.
Payment Schedule
The payments are issued on the 15th of each month. For January 2025, recipients can expect their checks or direct deposits to arrive by January 15. Payments are made directly to linked bank accounts or sent as physical checks to verified addresses.
