One client compared the price of a box of Woodbridge Chardonnay at a local liquor store near their home to Kroger, the nation’s largest grocery store chain.

Kroger Faces Customer Backlash Over Alleged Price Discrepancies on Wine

The user shared photos of the same wine box at $14.59 at the liquor store and $18.99 at Kroger, with a sale tag. Kroger was accused of “taking advantage” of customers. Kroger thanked the customer on X and said they would review the feedback with internal personnel.

Further investigation revealed that Kroger’s website has the white wine box at $18.99, down from $27.99. The consumer said Kroger is the largest grocery store chain liquor store in the country, but this is unconfirmed. Kroger, known for having booze stores near several locations, has yet to respond.

Kroger has been criticized for pricing before. The YouTube video “PRICE INCREASES AT KROGER!!! – This Is Ridiculous! – Sale Prices!?” showed rising prices and bare shelves. The video showed eggs for sale for $5.69 per packet of 18, claiming that certain U.S. supermarkets offer similar products for over $7. The video’s maker claimed shoppers are forced to shop sales and warned of price hikes.

Complaints of Increased Prices

Despite these criticisms, Kroger and Walmart previously promoted holiday grocery discounts. Target customers are also unhappy about long self-checkout lineups.

Kroger buyers complain about increased prices and perceived price differences with other retailers as complaints grow. The grocery chain has received criticism but has not addressed the charges.
