Dodge City, KS – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for southwest and south-central Kansas through Friday morning. The National Weather Service warns of snow accumulations up to three inches, creating hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory affects multiple counties, including Kiowa, Pratt, Seward, Meade, and Comanche. Snowfall is expected to begin Thursday afternoon, with the heaviest accumulation forecast during evening hours. Gusty winds up to 35 mph may reduce visibility, further complicating travel.

The advisory also impacts cities like Dodge City, Liberal, and Medicine Lodge. Drivers are urged to plan ahead, as slippery roads could disrupt Thursday evening commutes and overnight travel. Authorities recommend reducing speeds, maintaining a safe distance between vehicles, and allowing extra time for travel.

Conditions are expected to improve by early Friday morning, though lingering slick spots may persist on less-traveled roads. Road condition updates are available by dialing 511 or visiting local Department of Transportation websites.

Residents should also prepare for potential power outages caused by strong winds and heavy snow accumulation. Keeping emergency kits with flashlights, blankets, and non-perishable food is advised.
