Johnstown, PA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Cambria and Somerset counties through Saturday evening. Residents should prepare for an additional 1 to 3 inches of snowfall, creating hazardous travel conditions.
The National Weather Service issued the advisory, which lasts until 7 p.m. Saturday. Snowfall is expected to continue overnight Friday and into Saturday morning, potentially disrupting commutes and outdoor plans. Accumulating snow will make roads slippery, and reduced visibility is possible during heavier bursts.
According to the National Weather Service, travelers should exercise caution and reduce speeds on snow-covered roads. Road conditions can be monitored by dialing 511 for up-to-date travel information. Residents are urged to allow extra time for travel and to ensure vehicles are winter-ready.
Local officials also recommend keeping emergency supplies in vehicles, such as blankets, flashlights, and food, in case of delays. Snow shovels and ice melt can help keep driveways and sidewalks safe.
Snowfall is forecast to taper off by late Saturday, with drier conditions expected Sunday. However, cold temperatures will persist, increasing the risk of ice formation.
