Raleigh, NC – Sunshine will break through clouds today, but icy and slushy road conditions will remain hazardous across central North Carolina. Shaded areas and secondary roads are especially slick this morning, posing risks for drivers. Motorists are advised to exercise caution, reduce speed, and allow extra following distance while traveling.

According to the National Weather Service, skies will clear by late morning, with temperatures climbing to a high near 41°F. Northwest winds of 10-15 mph, gusting up to 20 mph, will make conditions feel colder. Despite the sun, roads in shaded or less-traveled areas may stay icy throughout the day.

Tonight, temperatures will drop sharply to 21°F under clear skies, creating potential refreezing hazards. Sunday promises sunny skies and slightly warmer highs of 43°F, though morning frost and icy spots may linger.

Looking ahead, the five-day forecast offers a steady improvement. Monday will see mostly sunny skies with highs near 49°F, and Tuesday follows with clear skies and a high of 43°F. However, colder air returns midweek, with Wednesday’s high dipping to 36°F.

Residents are encouraged to avoid non-essential travel this morning and use extreme caution if driving is necessary. Pedestrians should also watch for icy sidewalks, especially in shaded areas. Stay updated with local weather reports and road conditions as temperatures fluctuate.
