HOUSTON, TX – Heavy rain and strong winds are set to impact southeast Texas tonight, with dangerous conditions expected along I-45. A low-pressure system will bring widespread showers and thunderstorms, with rainfall totals between 2 to 3 inches likely.

According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest rain is expected from 6 p.m. to midnight tonight. Drivers should anticipate hazardous road conditions, including localized flooding and poor visibility, especially in low-lying areas near the coast. Residents in flood-prone zones are advised to take precautions and avoid driving during peak rainfall.

Wind advisories remain in effect for coastal areas, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph. Gale warnings for mariners are active from 6 p.m. Thursday through 6 a.m. Friday, with waves reaching 14 feet offshore. Small craft advisories are also in place, urging boaters to avoid the water.

Rain chances will decrease by Friday morning, with a high of 45°F and gusty winds making for a chilly day. Saturday will see clearing skies, with temperatures rising to 50°F and sunny conditions persisting through Sunday.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local updates and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain. Coastal residents should protect flood-prone properties and avoid walking or driving through standing water.

Stay tuned for real-time weather updates and plan ahead for the weekend’s improving conditions.
