Philadelphia, PA – Light snow that blanketed parts of the Philadelphia area overnight is tapering off this morning, but icy conditions remain a concern for local roadways. With temperatures hovering around 27°F early Saturday, conditions are expected to stay cold throughout the day. Drivers are urged to exercise caution, particularly on secondary roads and bridges, which may remain slick.
According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulation was minimal overnight, totaling less than an inch. Temperatures will rise to 34°F later today, with clouds giving way to mostly clear skies by Saturday night. Lows will dip to 25°F tonight, making for freezing conditions and potential black ice on untreated surfaces.
Sunday will bring some relief with sunshine and a high of 39°F. However, overnight lows will again drop significantly, hitting 24°F, which could prolong icy patches on roads like I-95 and Route 1 in the greater Philadelphia area. Those planning outdoor activities should dress warmly, as winds will add to the chill.
Looking further into the week, Monday promises mostly sunny skies and slightly milder temperatures, peaking at 41°F. But the trend turns colder Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs of 29°F and overnight lows plunging to 18°F. By Thursday, temperatures will begin to climb slightly, offering some relief to the area.
Residents are encouraged to monitor updates and ensure proper winter precautions, such as keeping sidewalks clear of ice and dressing in layers to combat the cold.
