Youngstown, OH – A winter storm continues to blanket portions of Ohio, bringing additional snow and slippery roads overnight. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, which remains in effect until 10 a.m. Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, areas including Mahoning, Trumbull, and surrounding counties could see up to two more inches of snow accumulation by Saturday morning. This ongoing snowfall is expected to make roads hazardous, with slippery conditions reported on highways and local streets.
The Ohio Department of Transportation is urging drivers to delay non-essential travel. Officials recommend slowing down and maintaining extra distance between vehicles. Updated traffic and road conditions can be accessed at www.ohgo.com.
Northwest Ohio, including Toledo and Sandusky, will also see additional snow accumulations of up to one inch by early Saturday. For these areas, the advisory remains in effect until 4 a.m. Drivers in cities like Findlay and Marion should use caution while navigating icy patches on sidewalks and roads.
Local emergency officials warn residents to stay vigilant for icy surfaces on stairs and driveways. Cold temperatures overnight could exacerbate the risk of falls and injuries.
The snowstorm has already disrupted weekend plans, with several community events postponed due to unsafe travel conditions. Meteorologists advise checking weather updates before venturing outdoors.
This advisory covers a large portion of Ohio, impacting areas from Youngstown to Canton and Mansfield. Snowfall is expected to taper off by late morning as the system moves eastward.
Be sure to prepare for cold conditions, and avoid travel unless necessary.
