Wilmington, NC – A sunny start to the week is in store for North Carolina, but chilly nights will continue to dominate. Monday’s high is expected to reach 52°F, while overnight temperatures could dip to a frosty 29°F in some areas.
According to the National Weather Service, clear skies and calm winds will prevail overnight Sunday into Monday. Residents are urged to take precautions to protect outdoor plants and bring pets inside as temperatures near freezing. The cold trend is expected to persist, with Tuesday morning bringing gusty northwest winds up to 16 mph, creating a brisk feel despite sunny skies.
Highs this week will hover in the mid to upper 40s, with Wednesday and Thursday both forecast to hit 48°F under mostly sunny conditions. Nights will remain cold, with lows dropping into the mid-20s. A slight warming trend is anticipated by Friday, with highs nearing 53°F.
Drivers are advised to use caution during the early morning commute, especially on less-traveled rural roads where frost could form overnight. Gusty conditions Tuesday could also impact high-profile vehicles on exposed roadways.
For residents planning outdoor activities, the best days for sunshine and calm conditions will be Monday and Wednesday. However, layers are recommended as cool winds will persist throughout the week.
