Wichita, KS – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Kansas, with snow expected to create hazardous travel conditions from Thursday to Friday morning. Forecasters predict snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches across Central, South Central, and Southeast Kansas, including cities such as Wichita, El Dorado, and Independence.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory is in effect from noon Thursday through 6 a.m. Friday. Snowfall is expected to intensify during the Thursday evening commute, creating slippery road conditions and reduced visibility. Drivers are urged to slow down and exercise caution when traveling during this period.

Affected areas include Butler, Greenwood, Harper, Sumner, Cowley, and surrounding counties. For Sedgwick and Kingman counties, snowfall totals are expected to reach up to 2 inches. These conditions may disrupt travel plans and affect daily commutes.

Emergency services advise residents to check road conditions before traveling by calling 511 or visiting their state’s transportation department website. Winter preparedness measures such as keeping a vehicle emergency kit and allowing extra travel time are recommended.

The advisory follows a pattern of winter storms affecting the region this season. Meteorologists expect temperatures to hover below freezing, prolonging icy conditions into Friday morning.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updates from the National Weather Service and local authorities for the latest forecasts and safety advisories.
