Kansas City, MO – Temperatures are set to drop sharply as a cold front moves through Missouri today, bringing gusty winds and freezing conditions. Daytime highs will peak in the mid-30s but quickly fall by the afternoon as winds shift to the northwest.
According to the National Weather Service, gusts of up to 25 mph are expected, creating wind chills in the teens and single digits. By Monday, the high will struggle to reach 22°F, with wind chill values as low as -2°F. Overnight lows tonight are forecast to dip to 7°F, ushering in dangerously cold conditions. Residents are advised to bundle up, limit outdoor exposure, and check on vulnerable individuals.
The week ahead remains frigid, with highs in the low 20s Monday and mid-20s Tuesday. A slight chance of snow is possible late Monday night, though accumulation appears minimal. Roads, however, may become slick, particularly on elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses.
By midweek, temperatures will slowly moderate, reaching the upper 30s by Thursday under mostly sunny skies. For now, residents should prepare for freezing temperatures, use caution while driving, and stay updated with local forecasts.
