Indianapolis, IN – Freezing fog across south-central Indiana is creating slick conditions on bridges, overpasses, and ramps this morning. Drivers are urged to reduce speeds and use caution through 10 a.m.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Indianapolis, patchy freezing fog combined with near-zero temperatures is significantly reducing visibility and increasing risks on roadways. Residents commuting on major routes, including Interstate 65 and U.S. Highway 31, should allow extra time to reach destinations.

A Winter Weather Advisory will take effect from 4 a.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday, as snowfall between two and four inches is expected to blanket the region. The heaviest accumulation is predicted for southern and southeastern Indiana. Dangerous conditions may develop as snow intensifies during Friday’s morning commute.

Drivers should prepare for hazardous travel conditions Friday, with slick roads likely throughout the day. The NWS advises keeping emergency kits in vehicles and checking road conditions before travel.

Looking ahead, Friday night will bring additional light snow with lows around 18°F, followed by a sunny Saturday with highs near 27°F. Sunday is expected to remain partly sunny with highs reaching 33°F, while another round of snow showers may arrive late Sunday into Monday.
