Boise, ID – Patchy fog and freezing temperatures are expected to create potentially hazardous conditions for Sunday morning drivers across the Boise area, with visibility and icy roads posing safety concerns.
The National Weather Service reports that patchy fog will linger until about 8 a.m. Sunday, particularly along major routes like I-84, rural roads, and low-lying areas. Visibility may drop below a quarter mile in some spots, increasing the risk of accidents. Temperatures early Sunday morning will hover near 22°F, with frost forming on roads and sidewalks.
By late morning, the fog will lift, leaving mostly sunny skies and a high near 36°F. Winds will remain calm, making for a clear but chilly day. Sunday night temperatures will fall again to 22°F under partly cloudy skies.
The extended forecast shows continued cold weather into the workweek. Monday will bring partly sunny skies and a high near 35°F. Calm winds will prevail, but temperatures will dip even lower Monday night, with a low of 19°F.
Tuesday and Wednesday will see mostly sunny skies, with daytime highs in the mid-30s. Tuesday night and Wednesday night temperatures will remain frigid, dropping to about 20°F. The pattern of cold, clear weather is expected to persist through Thursday and Friday, with highs near 36°F and lows in the low 20s.
Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time Sunday morning, use fog lights where necessary, and watch for slick spots. Pedestrians should also exercise caution, as frost may linger on sidewalks and other surfaces through the morning hours.
