Pueblo, CO – Snowfall is sweeping across Colorado, bringing hazardous travel conditions to areas east of the Continental Divide, including the I-25 corridor. Residents and travelers should brace for slick, snow-covered roads, particularly in southern portions of the state, through Sunday evening.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), snow began this morning in higher elevations and will expand eastward by late afternoon. Areas along I-25 near Pueblo, Walsenburg, and Trinidad are expected to experience up to 5 inches of snow accumulation by Sunday morning. The snow, combined with dropping temperatures, could create icy conditions and reduced visibility.
Travelers should avoid unnecessary trips or prepare for delays by equipping vehicles with winter essentials. Updates on road conditions are available at cotrip.org. Wind gusts of up to 20 mph may also contribute to drifting snow, further complicating travel.
Sunday’s forecast calls for clearer skies but continued cold temperatures, with highs near 37°F. Snow is expected to taper off overnight, but roads may remain icy as lows dip to 13°F. Monday and Tuesday will bring calmer weather, with sunny skies and daytime highs in the mid-30s to low 40s.
