Denver, CO – Colorado residents should brace for rapidly changing weather as snow and strong winds are forecasted for tonight into Saturday. The Front Range and mountain areas will see conditions worsen late tonight, creating potential travel hazards.
According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, gusts in the foothills could reach up to 65 mph, with snowfall likely above 9,000 feet in areas like Breckenridge and Estes Park. Blowing snow and reduced visibility are expected. Travelers along I-70 and US 285 should prepare for delays and pack emergency supplies.
Saturday will bring breezy conditions, with temperatures in Denver reaching a high of 41°F. Residents in the metro area can expect clearer skies by Sunday, with highs near 43°F and lighter winds. Mountain conditions, however, will remain cold and unsettled throughout the weekend.
The extended forecast shows a warming trend starting Monday, with sunny skies and highs climbing to the low 50s by midweek. While no major storms are predicted next week, icy conditions may linger on roads through Sunday morning.
If you’re traveling in affected areas tonight or tomorrow, allow extra time and check road conditions at COtrip.org. Avoid unnecessary travel in higher elevations, and dress warmly to combat the wind chill.
