Denver, CO – Colorado residents should prepare for a mix of snow, high winds, and sub-freezing temperatures through Monday, with hazardous driving conditions expected in many areas.
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for much of the state, including the Front Range and I-70 corridor. Wind gusts of 50 to 65 mph are expected tonight in the foothills and mountains, with the potential for flurries in the northeastern plains by morning. Snow accumulation of up to three inches is forecast for higher elevations.
According to the NWS, the mountains could see continued snow and moderate winds through Sunday, creating dangerous travel conditions. Drivers should avoid non-essential travel, especially on mountain passes, and ensure vehicles are winter-ready.
Daytime temperatures will remain cold this weekend, with highs around 41°F in Denver on Saturday and 37°F on Sunday. Overnight lows could dip to 16°F in some areas. Monday will bring slightly improved conditions with sunny skies, but temperatures will stay below 40°F.
Looking ahead, a gradual warming trend is forecast for midweek, with highs reaching the mid-40s by Tuesday and nearing 50°F on Wednesday. However, nights will remain cold, with temperatures in the teens to low 20s.
