According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, isolated snow showers are likely to begin Monday afternoon, with a 20% chance of light accumulation. Snowfall is expected to intensify Tuesday evening, bringing up to half an inch in some areas. Highs on Monday will hover around 32°F before plummeting to 16°F overnight.
By Wednesday, daytime highs are expected to reach only 20°F, with nighttime lows plunging to 7°F. The bitter cold will persist into Thursday, with a high near 22°F. Winds ranging from 8 to 13 mph on Tuesday night could create wind chills below freezing.
Drivers are advised to monitor conditions, especially on major roadways like Interstate 89 and Route 2, where slick surfaces are possible. Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle, and avoid unnecessary travel during peak snowfall.
Looking ahead, partly sunny skies return Thursday, providing a brief reprieve from the cold. However, another weather system may bring rain and snow by next weekend. Residents should stay informed through local forecasts and weather alerts.
