Little Rock, AR – Freezing fog has blanketed central Arkansas, creating dangerous driving conditions on roads and bridges, including the I-430 bridge. Drivers are urged to use caution as reduced visibility and black ice formation are making travel hazardous.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), freezing fog will persist through 9 a.m. Sunday, impacting much of central and western Arkansas. Temperatures remain below freezing, at 24°F overnight, with lows expected to dip to 19°F. The Arkansas Department of Transportation reported a flipped vehicle on the I-430 bridge late Saturday due to slick conditions.
For Monday, the freezing fog threat diminishes, but lingering moisture and cold temperatures will continue to pose risks for black ice during the morning commute. Highs will reach 38°F on Monday under partly cloudy skies, providing some relief.
Looking ahead, Tuesday and Wednesday will see sunny skies and slightly warmer temperatures, with highs climbing into the low-to-mid 40s. However, nighttime lows in the 20s could refreeze wet surfaces, prolonging icy conditions on less-traveled roads.
Drivers are reminded to slow down, use headlights in low-visibility areas, and leave extra space between vehicles. Avoid travel if possible during early morning hours when ice is most likely to form.
