Flagstaff, AZ – A sunny Saturday will give way to a sharp temperature drop Sunday as a cold front sweeps through Arizona. Daytime highs on Saturday will peak at 44°F, but nighttime lows will plummet to 8°F, with wind chill values dipping below zero.
According to the National Weather Service, northerly breezes at 7 to 15 mph could gust as high as 24 mph Saturday afternoon, making outdoor activities feel colder. By Sunday, highs will struggle to reach 35°F, with winds continuing to gust up to 20 mph. Residents should bundle up and limit time outdoors during the coldest hours.
Freezing temperatures are forecast to persist through early next week. Monday’s high is predicted at 37°F, with lows dipping to 11°F overnight. Tuesday brings slightly warmer conditions, with highs nearing 39°F. Despite the cold, skies will remain sunny and mostly clear, providing some relief for travelers.
Drivers should prepare for possible icy patches, especially overnight when temperatures drop below freezing. Roads near Flagstaff and other high-elevation areas, such as Interstate 40 and State Route 89A, may be hazardous. Local authorities advise motorists to allow extra travel time and keep emergency kits in their vehicles.
Looking ahead, Wednesday shows promise of warmer temperatures with a high of 46°F, but freezing conditions will likely return overnight. Stay tuned to the National Weather Service for updates.
