Phoenix, AZ – Residents in south-central Arizona and the Lower Colorado River Valley are advised to brace for challenging weather conditions this weekend, with strong winds and a freeze warning in effect.

According to the National Weather Service, gusts between 25-40 mph are expected to impact the region from Saturday afternoon through Sunday. Blowing dust may create hazardous driving conditions, particularly on roadways such as I-10 and I-8 near Blythe and Yuma. Motorists are urged to use caution and reduce speeds when visibility is low.

Additionally, a freeze warning will take effect from midnight Saturday through 9 a.m. Sunday. Temperatures are forecasted to dip into the lower 30s, threatening crops, sensitive vegetation, and unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents should cover plants, drain hoses, and insulate pipes to prevent damage.

Sunday’s forecast calls for sunny skies with a high of 62°F, but temperatures will remain chilly overnight, dropping to 34°F. Looking ahead, the Phoenix area can expect sunny and slightly warmer conditions early next week, with highs reaching 70°F by Tuesday.

This combination of strong winds and freezing temperatures highlights the need for preparedness. Travelers should monitor weather updates and heed advisories, while homeowners take steps to protect property from frost damage.
