Phoenix, AZ – A freeze warning is in effect across south-central Arizona, with temperatures expected to dip into the low 30s by Monday morning. Residents are urged to take precautions to protect outdoor plants, pets, and exposed plumbing as frost and freezing conditions could cause significant damage.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Phoenix, the freeze warning will remain active until 9 a.m. Monday, impacting cities including Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, and surrounding areas. Another warning will take effect Monday night through Tuesday morning, as overnight lows are forecast to stay near or below freezing.
Frost and freezing temperatures could damage sensitive vegetation and landscaping plants, while unprotected pipes may freeze or burst. Outdoor pets should be brought inside or provided adequate shelter to withstand the cold conditions.
The five-day forecast shows temperatures gradually warming after Wednesday, with highs climbing to the 60s and 70s by Thursday and Friday. Until then, clear skies and calm winds will dominate the weather, keeping nights especially cold.
For those traveling along I-10 or local roadways, black ice could be a concern in some low-lying areas. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously during early morning hours.
Residents should cover exposed plants, insulate outdoor pipes, and ensure heating systems are functioning properly. Emergency kits, including blankets and batteries, are recommended for those venturing outdoors during the coldest hours.
