Ukraine’s Defence Minister Engages in Urgent Talks with US Counterpart Amidst Russian Attacks

In the aftermath of Russia’s intense air attacks on Ukrainian cities on December 29, Ukraine’s Defence Minister, Rustem Umerov, engaged in a crucial telephone conversation with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. Russia’s Night Assault Leaves Cities Shattered

In the night assault on December 28-29, Russia unleashed a large-scale attack on Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Lviv, and Zaporizhzhia. The Pentagon revealed that out of 158 air targets launched by Russia, 114 were successfully destroyed by Ukrainian air defense systems.

The devastating attack resulted in significant casualties, with at least 30 people confirmed dead and over 160 injured. Ukrainian rescue efforts, led by the State Emergency Service, managed to save 53 individuals, including 8 rescued from under the rubble. The assault showcases the severity of the situation and the urgent need for international support in addressing the repercussions of the conflict.
