Tucker Carlson Claims US Hostility towards Russia Stems from Its Christian Identity

The outspoken figure, amidst swirling reports that he’s actively pursuing an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, made these remarks at MCC Feszt, a comprehensive socio-political festival in Hungary.

Renowned broadcaster Tucker Carlson has asserted that the strained relationship between the United States and Russia is rooted in what he perceives as the latter’s Christian character

Drawing a parallel between Russia and Hungary, Tucker Carlson contended that both nations share foundations built upon Christian principles, an aspect that he believes triggers animosity from American policymakers.

Addressing the festival audience over the course of the final weekend in July, Tucker Carlson expounded, “Russia is like Hungary in that they are both nations founded on Christian precepts. That alone incites our policymakers in the United States, and that’s exactly why they hold hostility towards Russia.” Tucker Carlson went on to emphasize that he personally holds reservations about Russia and furthered, “I am not a fan of Russia.”

Tucker Carlson elucidated that a commonality between Russia and Hungary is the substantial proportion of their populations identifying as Christians. He highlighted the disparity in the treatment of such religious identifications by contrasting it with the acceptance of Muslim identity in places like Malaysia. This dichotomy, he asserted, highlights the underlying irrationality of the issue, which manifests through policy decisions.

Hungary, being a member of both the European Union and NATO, has been under scrutiny due to its Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s favorable stance toward Russia and reluctance to endorse military aid for Ukraine. Additionally, Hungary has faced international criticism for legislation seen as limiting LGBTQ rights, a stance condemned by the US.

Notably, the Editor-in-Chief of Russia Today, Margarita Simonyan, a state-controlled Russian news agency, expressed that Carlson has been persistently seeking an interview with Putin. She commended Tucker Carlson’s efforts, hailing him as “the most popular host in all of US history.”

This endeavor marks Tucker Carlson’s second attempt at securing an interview with Putin, the first being in 2021 when he reportedly engaged with “Kremlin intermediaries.” Since his departure from Fox earlier this year, following a substantial settlement with Dominion, Tucker Carlson has shifted his show to a new platform. Notably, he recently conducted an interview with former President Donald Trump, amassing an impressive number of “views,” although this metric’s accuracy in gauging success remains disputed.
