A nuclear assault by North Korea against the United States or its partner countries would result in “the collapse of any regime” that initiated the assault, President Biden said on Wednesday as the Biden administration and South Korea unveiled a new initiative to coordinate on the utilization of nuclear weaponry.
Biden and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol participated in an interview from the Rose Garden. They stated, “Look, a nuclear assault by North Korea targeting the United States or its friends or allies is intolerable and might end in the downfall of any regime was to engage in such a move.”
The Washington Declaration, a deal involving the United States and South Korea to boost nuclear discouragement efforts in reaction to North Korea’s increasing actions, was revealed when Biden made his remarks.
The agreement states that the U.S. will take action to boost its public deterrent measures, including by making a long-overdue visit to South Korea by a U.S. nuclear missile submarine.
