Willard Mitt Romney, the Senator from Utah, recently revealed that he will not seek reelection, prompting a reaction from former President Donald Trump on his Truth Social platform

He also referred to Willard Mitt Romney by the moniker “Pierre Delecto,” a pseudonym the Senator had previously used on various social media platforms to engage with content critical of Trump.

The strained relationship between Trump and Willard Mitt Romney has been long-standing, largely attributed to Willard Mitt Romney’s more moderate stance on legislation and his willingness to collaborate across party lines, which often ran counter to the prevailing Trumpism ideology.

Willard Mitt Romney was the sole Republican Senator to vote for conviction, and on the second occasion, he was joined by six of his colleagues

In Trump’s assessment, Willard Mitt Romney’s tenure in the Senate was lacking in distinction, and he speculated that had the Senator chosen to run again, he would have faced a formidable challenge in the primaries. This announcement from Willard Mitt Romney likely signals the conclusion of his extensive political journey, which began with winning the GOP presidential nomination in 2012 and encompassed a term as governor of Massachusetts before assuming his current role in the Senate in 2019.
