Sen. Scott Wilk, a Republican from Santa Clarita in the state of California, has advised parents to “flee” the city while it’s already too late because they “love their kids,” in reaction to what he believes worrying language in the gender identity law. On Tuesday, AB 957 was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee 8-1.
According to the conservative news source The Daily Signal, the alert came after a Democratic senator recently changed the bill to include “gender affirmation” as one of the requirements for kids’ “health, security, and happiness.” Parents risk being accused of child abuse and losing custody battles if they decline to declare their child’s desired gender.
The bill’s critics claim that because of its insufficient phrasing, parents may be targeted for baseless accusations.
I’ve urged individuals to continue battling in the previous whenever we’ve had these talks and I’ve watched parental rights decline. On that, I’ve altered my mind,” Wilk declared. “You must leave California if you truly cherish your children. You must go away.
Wilk said that he had no intention of remaining in the state after leaving the Assembly when some listeners cheered his statement.
